A new addition to our ‘portfolio’ is the Advanced Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults course for GPs. This is a new all day course we have developed which has been reviewed and accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP). The venue is the NUT HQ in London, close to Kings Cross and we had an excellent group of GP’s and medical practitioners for our first course in January – drawn from across the country. One delegate came from Glasgow so we were keen to make sure his trip was worthwhile! The day went extremely well. GP’s have such an important role to play in the safeguarding process in terms of identifying families at risk and supporting victims of maltreatment – it was great to share collective experiences and hear from them about the challenges they face in terms of the ever-increasing demands placed upon GPs.
Feedback received was exceptional – one practitioner said that the course was ‘the best non-clinical course she had attended in 30 years’. Another felt it to be ‘ the best structured and most useful safeguarding course I have been to over a number of years – happy to recommend it to any colleagues.’ We have another three courses arranged for March 27th, June 27th and September 19th. With enquiries and bookings already coming in it seems like this will be a popular course.
